Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good/Fine (CGC 5.0)
Condition Details
Visible moderate spine stress with color-breaking ticks; significant color-breaking vertical crease/fold running down the right side of the cover; corner blunting at top left and bottom right; slight surface scuffing and minor edge wear; staples appear original but show slight tension.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $35 - $50; Graded (CGC 5.0): $60 - $85. High-grade copies (9.8) can exceed $1,000.
Recent Sales
Recent eBay sales for raw mid-grade copies ( VG/FN) range from $30 to $55. 9.8 graded copies have recently sold for $1,200+, but lower grades remain affordable.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading in this condition. The heavy vertical crease significantly caps the grade at approximately 5.0-6.0. The cost of CGC fees would likely exceed the value added. Keep as a high-quality reader or 'place-holder' copy.
Notable Features
Key Issue: Conclusion of 'Days of Future Past'. Death of future Wolverine, Storm, and Colossus. Iconic Terry Austin cover. Newsstand Edition with barcode. Significant Bronze Age key.
Authentication Notes
Authentic First Printing. The 50-cent cover price, newsstand barcode, and characteristic aged paper stock consistent with 1981 Marvel manufacturing are all present. No signs of restoration visible from the image.
