Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress and small color-breaking ticks along the spine. Slight corner blunting on the bottom right. Some surface scuffing visible on the plastic polybag which may obscure direct cover flaws. The top left corner shows light wear and the bottom edge indicates minor shelf wear.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $10 / Graded (9.8): $90 - $110
Recent Sales
Recent raw sales for mid-to-high grade copies vary from $4 to $12. CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold for approximately $100.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading unless a 9.8 is guaranteed. The cost of grading (CGC/CBCS) exceeds the current raw market value for mid-grade copies. A professional press and clean might improve the grade to an 8.0-8.5 range, but the comic remains a common bronze/copper age secondary key.
Notable Features
Features art and story by the legendary Jack Kirby. Note the 'DC 50' logo on the bottom left corner, commemorating DC's 50th anniversary (1935-1985). Direct market edition featuring a character illustration in the barcode box.
Authentication Notes
Authentic period-correct newsprint interior and glossy cover stock. Standard staple placement and correct color registration for mid-80s DC printing.
