Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
Minor spine stress markers visible on the left edge. The corners appear relatively sharp with very slight blunting on the bottom right. The cover shows strong color vibrancy but has a minor surface scuff near the top-mid section (possibly a light reflection in the photo). Overall excellent structural integrity.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $3 - $8; Graded (9.8): $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in similar mid-to-high grade have sold for approximately $5 on secondary markets. 9.8 graded copies occasionally reach $55.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of CGC/CBCS grading exceeds the current market value of the comic. It is a great reader/collector copy but lacks the 'key' status required for a significant ROI after grading fees.
Notable Features
First appearance of The Weird. Features the legendary creative duo of Jim Starlin and Bernie Wrightson. Labeled with the 'DC Comics Aren't Just For Kids' promotional box.
Authentication Notes
Authentic 1980s DC copper-age stock. Correct logo placement for 1988, standard newsprint interior pages (assumed), and proper ink saturation for Wrightson's detailed line work.
