Multiple color-breaking spine stress lines and a possible spine split or heavy wear on the left edge. Significant blunting and creasing on all four corners, especially the bottom right. Visible surface wear, scuffing, and minor staining on the dark cover ink. Small tears along the right edge. Staple oxidation possible. Creasing near the 'MCG' logo area.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 2.0): $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent sales for mid-grade copies (VG/FN) range from $50 to $80. Lower grade copies like this one typically sell in the $15-$20 range in raw condition.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. In this condition (GD 2.0), the cost of grading, shipping, and handling would likely exceed the final market value of the slabbed book. Best kept as a reader copy or for a low-grade run filler.
Notable Features
Featured story 'Now Strikes the Sub-Human!'; Backup story 'The Origin of Cyclops'; First appearance of Grotesk; Silver Age 12-cent cover price.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Silver Age Marvel production signs: Flat ink aesthetic typical of the late 60s, period-correct 'Marvel Comics Group' corner box, and 12-cent IND. price marking. Paper aging/browning visible on edges consistent with 1968 newsprint.
