Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Visible color-breaking spine stress, blunted corners with minor rounding, wear along the bottom edge, slight vertical creasing on the right-hand side of the front cover, and significant edge wear. General shelf wear and aging consistent with mid-grade Silver Age books.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $80 - $125 | Graded 4.0: $150 - $175
Recent Sales
High-grade copies (9.0+) command over $1,500. Mid-grade copies (4.0-5.0) have recently sold between $100 and $160 depending on eye appeal.
Grading Recommendation
Moderate recommendation. While a Silver Age key, the current condition (est. 4.0-5.0) may result in grading costs taking a significant portion of the value. A press and clean could improve it to a 5.0-5.5, making professional grading more viable.
Notable Features
First Silver Age team-up of Dr. Fate and Hourman; 1st Silver Age appearance of Solomon Grundy; Key Justice Society of America (JSA) revival issue; Murphy Anderson cover art.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Silver Age DC comic. 12-cent cover price is correct for 1965. Features the standard 'DC National Comics' circular logo and the Comics Code Authority stamp in the upper right. Paper tanning appears consistent with mid-60s stock.
