Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5)
Condition Details
Visible spine stress with color break (ticks), minor corner blunting on bottom left, slight edge wear along the right side, and surface rubbing visible in black areas of the cover. Bagged and boarded presentation suggests decent preservation.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 7.5 - 8.5): $50 - $80
Recent Sales
CGC 9.6 copies have sold for over $150, but raw mid-grade copies consistently sell in the $10-$20 range. Higher grades (9.8) command a significant premium ($300+).
Grading Recommendation
Currently not recommended for professional grading. The costs of shipping and grading fees would likely exceed the market value of a mid-grade raw copy. Only worth grading if it was a guaranteed 9.6 or higher or for personal archival purposes.
Notable Features
Features a blank UPC 'Strike-through' box typical of early Direct Edition Marvel comics. Early internal Star Wars lore development by Archie Goodwin. Features Baron Orman Tagge.
Authentication Notes
The '35c' price point and 'June' date match standard 1978 Marvel distribution. Ink saturation on the black space background appears consistent with late 70s newsprint production. No signs of restoration visible through the bag.
