Comic Description

Title: 'Silent Drifting'. This issue features a flashback story of Ben (Obi-Wan) Kenobi during his time as a general in the Clone Wars. Princess Leia travels to the planet Junction to help the Rebellion, while Artoo and Threepio deal with a stowaway. A significant early expanded universe tale focusing on Kenobi's past.

Condition & Value

Condition Grade

Very Fine (CGC 8.0)

Condition Details

Visible minor spine stress with small color-breaking ticks. Light corner blunting on the bottom left and top right. Minor edge wear along the right side of the cover. Slight surface scuffing visible on the dark areas of Ben Kenobi's robe. Overall clean with strong color vibrancy and white borders.

Estimated Market Value

Raw: $15–$25; Graded (CGC 8.0+): $60–$100

Recent Sales

Recent raw copies in similar mid-to-high grade condition have sold between $18 and $22. High-grade CGC 9.6-9.8 copies command significantly higher premiums ($200+), but mid-grade slabs typically trade below $100.

Grading Recommendation

Not recommended for professional grading unless for personal sentimental value. The cost of grading fees and shipping would likely exceed the immediate market value increase for an 8.0 grade. It is a solid candidate for a 'Press and Clean' which might bump it to the 8.5-9.0 range.

Notable Features

Features an early Obi-Wan Kenobi flashback story. Iconic 'Ben Kenobi Fights Alone!' cover banner. Includes the UPC barcode indicating it is a newsstand edition, which is more collectible for certain enthusiasts of this era compared to the Whitman multi-packs.

Authentication Notes

The comic appears to be an authentic 1979 original. The paper aging (slight yellowing visible on edges), ink saturation typical of late 70s Marvel newsprint, and proper staple centering support its authenticity. No signs of reproduction or counterfeiting are visible.
