Comic Description
A special promotional issue where the Teen Titans (Robin, Starfire, Cyborg, Raven, Changeling, Wonder Girl) battle the menace of drug addiction. They encounter a local teen named Ted who is dealing drugs under the influence of the villainous 'The Protector'. Notably, Kid Flash is replaced by The Protector on the cover and inside due to licensing issues with the Keebler company.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress and ticks, writing on the top right corner indicating 'New Teen Titans Damaged', corner blunting, possible vertical crease or indentation on the right side, and general shelf wear visible on edges.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $2 - $10 / Graded (9.8): $150 - $250. This specific copy in 4.0 condition is roughly $3 - $5.
Recent Sales
High-grade 9.8 copies have sold for $200+, while lower-grade raw copies frequently sell for under $10 in lot deals.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The visible writing on the cover and general wear significantly lower the grade. The cost of grading (CGC/CBCS) would exceed the market value of the book.
Notable Features
This is the first appearance of The Protector (Jason Hart). This edition was sponsored by 'The American Soft Drink Industry' in cooperation with The President's Drug Awareness Campaign. It is one of three different promotional versions (others include Keebler and IBM).
Authentication Notes
Appears authentic. The paper quality of these giveaways was typically lower than standard newsstand comics, which is consistent with the visible aging and texture shown.
