Comic Description
An anthology of supernatural stories. The lead story, 'The Green Grave' (cover story), features a scuba diver named Ed Maroon who encounters a spirit in the water. Typical Silver Age horror/suspense fare from the Charlton line.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good- (CGC 3.5)
Condition Details
Moderate to heavy spine wear with multiple color-breaking stress lines. Significant vertical and diagonal creases across the center of the cover (near the scuba diver's torso). Corner blunting and minor rounding. General shelf wear and surface scuffing with some edge chipping visible along the left side. Noticeable aging to the paper stock.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10 - $20 | Graded: $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent sales for mid-grade copies of similar late-60s Charlton horror titles have fluctuated between $15 and $25. Graded copies around 4.0 often struggle to exceed $50 due to low demand relative to Marvel/DC keys.
Grading Recommendation
Not worth grading. The cost of professional grading (CGC/CBCS) and shipping would likely exceed the final market value of the book in this condition. Professional pressing might improve the creasing but will not fix the color breaks.
Notable Features
Features the story 'The Green Grave'. Classic Silver Age Charlton horror cover art. Includes the Comics Code Authority stamp. Price of 12 cents.
Authentication Notes
Colors and aging consistent with 1968 newsprint and Charlton's typical lower-quality production standards. Original 12-cent price point and 'CDC' logo placement are accurate.
