Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
The comic is inside a plastic bag making precise assessment difficult, but several spine stress ticks are visible along the left edge. There is minor blunting on the upper left and lower left corners. Surface gloss appears high with no visible color-breaking creases across the main cover art.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15-$25; Graded (9.8): $120-$150; Graded (9.0): $35-$45
Recent Sales
Recent raw sales average $20 for clean copies. CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold between $130 and $160.
Grading Recommendation
If the comic is indeed a 9.0-9.2, grading may not be financially beneficial after fees unless it can be pressed to a 9.8. It is a key copper-age book but high-grade supply is plentiful.
Notable Features
First issue of the long-running anthology series. First appearance of Tyger Tiger. Iconic Wolverine cover by Walt Simonson. Direct edition (character head in UPC box).
Authentication Notes
Standard newsprint interior with glossy cover typical of late 80s Marvel. No indications of reproduction; color registration and Silver Surfer corner logo align with 1988 production standards.
