Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Fine (CGC 6.0) to Fine/Very Fine (CGC 7.0)
Condition Details
Visible price sticker residue or orange sticker on the top right front cover which negatively impacts value. Visible surface scuffing/rubbing on the black ink areas (common for this issue). Softening of corners and minor spine stress marks. The bagging hides some details, but the sticker is the primary deterrent for a high grade.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $10 (due to sticker); Graded 9.8: $150 - $200. In this condition: $8 - $12.
Recent Sales
Raw copies in mid-grade sell consistently for under $15. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have seen a rise in interest due to nostalgia for the MTV animated series.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The presence of a price sticker on the cover and general surface wear would likely result in a grade below 9.0, making the cost of grading exceed the market value of the book.
Notable Features
First appearance of The Maxx and Julie Winters. Iconic artwork by Sam Kieth. Part of the early wave of Image Comics successes. Features 'Glow-in-the-dark' elements on some variants, though this is the standard edition.
Authentication Notes
Authentic first printing. Features the red Image logo and $1.95 cover price. Ink saturation and paper stock are consistent with 1993 Image production standards.
