Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine (CGC 8.0)
Condition Details
Notable spine stress marks (ticks) along the left edge, several of which break color on the silver foil. Slight blunting at the top and bottom left spine corners. Minor surface scuffing visible on the foil background. Vertical ripple along the spine which could indicate light handling wear.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10 - $20; Graded (9.8): $90 - $120; Graded (8.0): $30 - $40
Recent Sales
Raw copies consistently sell for under $20 on eBay. CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold in the $100 range. Lower grades in the 8.0-9.0 range often sell for less than the cost of grading.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for grading in current condition. The visual defects (spine ticks) likely cap the grade around 8.0-8.5. Unless the book is a 9.8 candidate, the cost of grading usually exceeds the market value of the slabbed book.
Notable Features
30th Anniversary Issue. Chromium/Silver Foil wrap-around cover. Hologram-style X-Logo background. Newsstand Edition (indicated by the barcode on the bottom left). Significant early 90s 'gimmick' cover era key.
Authentication Notes
Authentic. The silver foil reflectivity, specific newsstand UPC barcode formatting, and paper stock thickness shown are consistent with Marvel's 1993 production standards. No signs of reproduction or counterfeiting are visible.
