Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Near Mint (9.4)
Condition Details
The comic appears to be in very high-grade condition. It shows sharp corners, vibrant color registration, and clean edges. There is a potential very minor spine tick near the center and slight blunting on the bottom left corner, typical of shelf wear. Being in a polypropylene bag makes a definitive assessment difficult, but overall presentation is excellent.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $3 - $8; Graded (9.8): $30 - $50
Recent Sales
Recent sales for raw copies range from $1 to $10. CGC 9.8 copies have historically sold for under $60, including shipping.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of the grading service ($25-$40) plus shipping exceeds the current market value of the book. It is a common 'modern age' issue with high supply and moderate demand.
Notable Features
Features cover art by J. Scott Campbell, known for his work on Danger Girl and Gen13. This is the first appearance of the HumanKind cast. Includes a Direct Edition UPC barcode.
Authentication Notes
The book displays correct Top Cow logo placement, appropriate paper stock gloss from the early 2000s, and correct UPC coding (00111) for a first-issue direct edition. No signs of restoration or counterfeiting.
