Comic Description
A spin-off from New Mutants, this issue features the debut of the militant mutant team X-Force led by Cable. Key characters include Cable, Domino (copycat), Shatterstar, Feral, Warpath, Cannonball, and Boom-Boom. They face off against Stryfe and the Mutant Liberation Front.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Near Mint- (CGC 9.2)
Condition Details
The comic appears to be in its original polybag, which has preserved most of the integrity. Visible minor spine ticks and slight blunting on the upper corners are typical for this release due to the inclusion of the trading card. The polybag itself shows surface scuffing and wrinkling.
Estimated Market Value
Raw (unopened): $10 - $20; Graded (CGC 9.8): $100 - $140
Recent Sales
Recent sales for sealed copies range from $5 to $25 depending on which character trading card is visible. 9.8 graded copies consistently sell for over $100.
Grading Recommendation
Generally not recommended for grading unless the comic is in pristine (9.8+) condition. This was one of the highest-printed comics of the 1990s, leading to high saturation in the market. Preservation in the bag is often preferred by collectors unless seeking a high-grade investment piece.
Notable Features
First appearance of GW Bridge. Features one of five possible trading cards inside (Cable, Shatterstar, Domino, Warpath, or Deadpool). High print run of approximately 5 million copies.
Authentication Notes
The orange 'Issue #1' strip and the large circular 'Free Trading Card' stickers are original to the 1991 polybagged release. The 'Printed in Canada' text on the bottom right is consistent with Marvel's assembly of these collector editions.
