Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress visible on the red chromium portion. Some minor blunting at the top and bottom left corners. The chromium surface shows light scuffing and fingerprints consistent with the age of the material. Minimal color-breaking creases.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10 - $20; Graded (CGC 9.8): $100 - $130
Recent Sales
Raw copies typically sell for $10-15 on eBay. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold in the range of $115 to $135 depending on the auction timing.
Grading Recommendation
Only worth grading if the comic is a guaranteed 9.8 candidate. In its current visible state (est. 9.0), the cost of grading and shipping would likely exceed the market value of the slabbed book. A clean and press could potentially improve the grade if there are non-color breaking dents.
Notable Features
Origin of Bloodshot. Iconic chromium wrap-around cover which was a staple of '90s Valiant gimmicks. This is a key issue for Valiant collectors as it provides the definitive backstory for one of their flagship characters.
Authentication Notes
Genuine Valiant product. The chromium foil is reflective and the 'Valiant' compass logo is correctly placed. Registration of the ink over the foil appears consistent with authentic 1994 production standards.
