Comic Description
Part 7 of the 'Sandman Superman' saga (also known as the 'Kryptonite Nevermore!' storyline). A creature made of sand, which has been draining Superman's powers, finally confronts him in a destructive duel. This issue features the continuation of the 'depowered' Superman era where his strength was significantly reduced.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Good/Very Good (CGC 3.0)
Condition Details
Visible moderate spine roll and heavy spine stress with color-breaking ticks. Significant corner wear and rounded corners. Creasing across the bottom right and top left. Noticeable 'Marvel chipping' or edge wear along the left vertical border. General surface wear and soiling consistent with a mid-to-low grade copy.
Estimated Market Value
Raw $15 - $25; Graded (3.0 condition) $45 - $60.
Recent Sales
Recent raw sales for mid-grade (VG/FN) copies range from $20 to $40. Lower grade copies like this one typically sell in the $15-$25 range due to common availability.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The costs of grading, shipping, and handling would likely exceed the final market value of a 3.0-4.0 grade copy. Better suited for raw collection.
Notable Features
Iconic cover art by Neal Adams; 25-cent 'Bigger and Better' giant-size format from the early 1970s; conclusion of the 'Sandman Superman' story arc.
Authentication Notes
Appears authentic with period-appropriate paper aging (off-white pages visible at edges) and standard DC production qualities from 1971. The 25c price point and 'Bigger and Better' banner are consistent with the era's format change.
