Condition & Value

Condition Grade

Very Good (CGC 4.0)

Condition Details

Moderate color-breaking spine stress, significant corner blunting (especially top right), visible edge wear/chipping, and two large circular red stickers with handwritten numbers applied directly to the cover surface which may cause residue or damage upon removal.

Estimated Market Value

Raw: $30 - $50 | Graded (4.0): $75 - $90 (Values heavily impacted by the stickers on the cover)

Recent Sales

Recent 4.0 - 5.0 grade raw copies have sold between $35 and $60. High-grade (9.0+) copies fetch over $250.

Grading Recommendation

Not recommended for professional grading in current state. The presence of the stickers on the cover will result in a significant deduction or a 'Qualified' label. If the stickers are professionally removed with care, a press and clean might bring it to a 4.5 or 5.0.

Notable Features

Early appearance of Hank McCoy as the furry Beast; features iconic X-Men villains the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants; 20 cent cover price variant.

Authentication Notes

The wear patterns, paper oxidation on the edges, and authentic '70s-era printing dot patterns (halftones) confirm this as an original 1972 bronze-age Marvel comic. Standard staple placement is observed.
