Comic Description
This issue is a reprint of The Amazing Spider-Man #250. It features Spider-Man battling the Hobgoblin. This era of Marvel Tales was dedicated to reprinting the popular 1980s Tom DeFalco/Ron Frenz run of The Amazing Spider-Man.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5)
Condition Details
Visible glare from polybag obscures some detail, but small white spine ticks (stress lines) are visible along the spine, particularly near the staple areas. There is slight blunting on the bottom left corner and minor shelf wear. The black cover is notoriously difficult to keep in high grade as it shows every scratch and spine tick.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $15 | Graded (estimated 9.0+): $45 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent raw newsstand copies range from $4.00 to $12.50 depending on shipping and condition. High-grade slabbed copies (9.8) can approach $100, but mid-grades remain low value.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of CGC/CBCS grading, shipping, and handling would likely exceed the actual market value of the comic. It is a reprint issue and not a major key.
Notable Features
Features an iconic cover homage based on the original ASM #250. This is the Newsstand edition which is generally more desirable to certain collectors than the Direct Edition. Reprints the first appearance of the 'Hobgoblin's battle van'.
Authentication Notes
The item appears authentic. The paper quality of the early 90s newsprint and the specific UPC barcode layout for Marvel in 1992 are consistent with original production. The gloss on the black ink is reflective as expected for this era.
