Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Fine (CGC 6.0) to Fine/Very Fine (CGC 7.0)
Condition Details
Visible color-breaking spine ticks and stress lines, significant wear on the top right corner and top edge, minor blunting of the bottom right corner, and some surface scuffing/shelf wear along the spine. The cover remains bright but lacks the crispness of a high-grade copy.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $15. Graded (9.8): $100 - $130 (this copy will not hit that grade).
Recent Sales
Recent sales of raw mid-grade copies range between $6 and $12. CGC 9.8 copies have sold for roughly $115 in recent month.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The current value of a mid-grade raw copy is less than the cost of grading fees. This issue is better kept as a reader copy or in a protective bag and board.
Notable Features
First appearance of the Vulturians (Honcho, Gripes, Sugar Face, and Pigeon). Spider-Man in classic red-and-blue costume, though the corner box features the black suit design which was current at the time.
Authentication Notes
The item appears to be an authentic 1985 bronze-age Marvel comic. Note the 'Spider-Man' head in the UPC box area, which identifies it as a Direct Market edition rather than a Newsstand edition (which would have a barcode).
