The story 'Lost in the Funhouse' features the X-Men's encounter with the cosmic entity Horde. Features Wolverine, Storm, Rogue, Psylocke, Dazzler, Havok, and Longshot. Wolverine is briefly granted god-like power after his blood falls on the Crystal of Ultimate Vision, but he ultimately rejects it.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine (CGC 8.0)
Condition Details
Visible color-breaking spine stress/ticks (at least 3-4 along the left edge), corner blunting on the bottom right and top right, a price sticker on the top right corner (attached to the comic directly, not the bag), slight cover scuffing near the 'X' in X-Men, and minor edge wear.
Estimated Market Value
Raw (estimated condition): $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 8.0): $45 - $60; Graded (CGC 9.8 potential): $180+
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar Mid-High grade condition frequently sell for $10 to $25. Graded 9.8 copies have sold recently in the $180-$220 range.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading in current state. The presence of the price sticker on the cover and visible spine ticks would limit the grade to the 7.5-8.5 range. Grading costs would likely exceed the value added. A professional cleaning and sticker removal might help, but it remains a common back-issue.
Notable Features
Alan Davis cover and interior art; Newsstand edition; Story concludes the Horde subplot; Iconic image of Wolverine fighting Horde.
Authentication Notes
Authentic 1980s newsstand copy. Correct paper stock (Baxter-style or standard newsprint for the era), proper price variant for 1987 ($1.25 US), and standard barcode placement.
