Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Visible heavy creasing on the left side of the cover (subscription crease/fold), significant spine stress with color breaks, blunted corners (especially bottom right), and visible surface wear and ink rubbing. The bag has many wrinkles which obscures some fine detail, but the structural integrity appears below average.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded: $60 - $80 (depending on interior page quality).
Recent Sales
Raw copies in VG condition typically sell for $15-$20. High-grade CGC 9.4+ copies can exceed $150, but low-grade copies have stable, low pricing.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The costs of grading, shipping, and fees would likely exceed the final market value of a mid-to-low grade copy. A press might improve the crease slightly but won't fix the color breaks.
Notable Features
Early Black Widow appearance in the Daredevil series. Artwork by notable artist Barry Windsor-Smith inside. 20 cent price variant era. No UPC (pre-dates barcode inclusion).
Authentication Notes
Authentic Silver/Bronze Age newsprint. Correct 20 cent price for 1972. Natural aging and 'Marvel Chipping' on edges are consistent with period production. Staple placement appears factory original.
