This issue also includes a backup story featuring Satan's Six by Tony Isabella and John Cleary.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5 - 8.0 Range)
Condition Details
Visible white spotting and surface scuffing on the prismatic/foil finish. Minor corner blunting at bottom left. Spine shows minor stress marks. Potential 'clouding' common with 1990s foil covers. The plastic sleeve obscures some precision, but surface abrasions are the primary defect.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $3 - $8 | Graded (9.8): $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent raw sales for the foil variant typically range from $2 to $10 depending on condition. 9.8 graded copies have sold in the $45 range as of late 2023.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of grading exceeds the market value of the book. Foil covers are notoriously difficult to grade due to surface scratching and scuffing, and this copy shows significant surface wear.
Notable Features
First issue of the series. Features a prismatic silver foil cover which was a hallmark of the 1990s speculator boom. Includes a 'Satan's Six' backup story. Created from concepts by 'King' Jack Kirby.
Authentication Notes
Authentic first printing. High-gloss silver prismatic foil is characteristic of Topps' 1993 production standards. Includes the Topps Comics logo and 'Jack Kirby's Secret City Saga' banner in correct fonts/alignment.
