Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Near Mint- (CGC 9.2)
Condition Details
The cover shows good structural integrity with bright red foil. Minor color-breaking spine ticks are visible along the red border. Corners appear sharp but there is slight blunting on the bottom left. Gloss is high, though slight surface scratching on foil is common for this issue.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $30 - $45; Graded (9.8): $150 - $180; Graded (9.2): $60 - $70
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar condition have recently sold between $25 and $50. High-grade 9.8 copies saw a surge following 'Across the Spider-Verse' but have stabilized.
Grading Recommendation
Worth grading only if it is a guaranteed 9.8 candidate. At an estimated 9.2-9.4, the cost of grading may exceed the value added. A clean and press could potentially bump the grade by removing non-color breaking dimples in the foil.
Notable Features
First full appearance of Spider-Man 2099; First appearance of Tyler Stone and Dana D'Angelo; Features a distinctive red foil embossed cover; Direct Edition (denoted by the graphic in the UPC box).
Authentication Notes
Authentic first printing. The red foil is vibrant and deep; many reprints or later tributes lack the specific embossed texture and reflective quality of the 1992 original. Paper stock is standard 90s semi-gloss.
