Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good / Fine (CGC 5.0)
Condition Details
Visible moderate foxing/soiling on the white areas of the cover, particularly the right edge and top margin. Pronounced spine stress lines with color breaking. Corner rounding on the top and bottom right. Slight tanning to the cover paper consistent with age.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $10 / Graded (9.6+): $50 - $70
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in Mid-Grade (5.0-7.0) typically sell for $4-$8 plus shipping. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have reached $100+ but are uncommon.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The costs of grading and shipping would likely exceed the market value of the comic in this mid-grade condition. This is a great 'reader' copy.
Notable Features
Second appearance of Ambush Bug (Irwin Schwab). Direct Edition with DC 'Where the Action Is!' graphic in the UPC box. Iconic George Pérez cover art.
Authentication Notes
The comic displays authentic 1980s DC newsprint characteristics. The aging (foxing) patterns are consistent with authentic wood-pulp-based paper from that era. Staple placement and Ben-Day dot patterns in the coloring appear genuine.
