Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good/Fine (CGC 5.0)
Condition Details
Visible spine stress with several color-breaking ticks. Significant spine roll or misalignment along the left edge. Minor blunting at corners and visible edge wear. Likely moderate tanning on interior pages based on age, though the cover colors remain vibrant.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $700 - $900 | Graded (CGC 5.0): $1,200 - $1,500
Recent Sales
CGC 5.0 copies have recently sold in the $1,300 range. Raw copies in mid-grade typically fetch between $800 and $1,100 depending on eye appeal. High-grade copies (9.0+) exceed $4,000.
Grading Recommendation
Highly Recommended for grading. Even in mid-grade (5.0-6.0), this is a major key issue. Professional cleaning and a press could potentially improve the spine roll and push the grade higher, significantly increasing market value.
Notable Features
First appearance of Moon Knight. Bronze Age key issue. No UPC barcode on bottom left (Direct/Newsstand distinction was not standard in 1975, this is a standard bronze age distribution).
Authentication Notes
The cover gloss and paper stock appear consistent with 1970s Marvel quality. The printing of the trade dress (Marvel Comics Group header) and the 25 cent price point align with period-correct printing techniques.
