Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5 to 8.0)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress/ticks visible along the left edge. Minor blunting on the top-right corner. Slight color rubbing/wear on the white borders of the Marvel logo and upper header. The cover displays good gloss and vibrant colors with no significant staining or major creasing apparent in the photo.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $10. Graded (9.6/9.8): $40 - $70.
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in similar mid-to-high grade condition have sold for $3 to $8. High-grade slabbed copies occasionally reach the $50 range but demand is currently low.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of grading (CGC/CBCS) exceeds the current market value of the book. It is a common 'dollar bin' issue that would only be worth grading if it was a guaranteed 9.8 (Mint) candidate.
Notable Features
Direct Edition; Keith Pollard cover art; features Ikaris and various Deviants. Part of the 80s relaunch of Jack Kirby's original concepts.
Authentication Notes
The item appears to be an authentic 1980s Marvel Direct Edition comic. The paper stock (Baxter/Standard newsprint of that era), ink saturation, and the Captain America 'corner box' in the UPC area are consistent with the 1986 production standards.
