Condition & Value

Condition Grade

Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)

Condition Details

Minor spine stress marks visible on the left edge. Slight blunting on the bottom right corner. Excellent color vibrancy and surface gloss. Bag and board have likely protected it well, but minor surface wear is typical for newsprint-interior era books.

Estimated Market Value

Raw: $5.00 - $12.00; Graded (CGC 9.8): $60.00 - $85.00

Recent Sales

Raw copies typically sell for $5-10 on eBay. CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold in the range of $65-80 depending on the current market interest in the Reign of the Supermen storyline.

Grading Recommendation

Generally not recommended for grading unless it is a guaranteed 9.8. The cost of grading ($30+) often exceeds the raw value for this high-print-run 90s issue. A press and clean might help it reach a higher tier, but profit margins remain slim.

Notable Features

Includes a bonus 'Man of Tomorrow' poster inside. Features Cyborg Superman and the Return of Doomsday. Contains the 'triangle' reading order icon common to 1990s Superman titles. Direct Edition (indicated by the Superman logo in the UPC box).

Authentication Notes

Authentic first printing. Correct glossy cover stock and interior paper quality for 1993 DC publications. The 'Superman' logo in the barcode box confirms it as a Direct Market edition rather than a Newsstand edition (which would have a barcode).
