Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
The comic appears to be bagged and boarded with some minor glare. There is a price sticker in the upper right quadrant of the cover which could potentially be removed. The corners appear relatively sharp with minimal blunting, and no major spine ticks or color-breaking creases are immediately evident through the protective sleeve.
Estimated Market Value
Raw value estimated between $15 and $30 USD. Graded CGC 9.8 values range around $80 to $120 USD.
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in similar condition have sold in the $20-$25 range on eBay, while high-grade CGC 9.8 copies routinely fetch around $100 depending on market fluctuations.
Grading Recommendation
Given the raw value and the cost of professional grading, it is generally not worth grading unless you are aiming to preserve a high 9.6 or 9.8 grade after removing the price sticker carefully. A professional press and clean to remove the sticker residue could improve the final grade.
Notable Features
Direct Edition with UPC barcode box showing Direct Edition text. Iconic minimalist John Cassaday cover featuring Wolverine's claws.
Authentication Notes
Appears authentic with standard Marvel modern glossy cardstock cover, correct barcode placement, and proper color separation consistent with first printings from 2004.
