Comic Description
In the aftermath of 'Avengers Disassembled,' the Avengers and X-Men meet to decide the fate of Magneto's daughter, the Scarlet Witch. Fearing her powers and the threat of her elimination, Quicksilver convinces Wanda to warp reality, resulting in the 'House of M' world where mutants are the dominant species and Magneto's family rules. This issue marks the launch of one of Marvel's most influential modern crossover events.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine (CGC 8.0)
Condition Details
Visible spine stress with color-breaking ticks along the left edge. The bottom left corner shows slight blunting. There appears to be a light horizontal indentation or crease middle-left of the cover. Minor edge wear at the top right. Bag and board reflections obscure some surface details, but the cover remains glossy.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10.00 - $15.00 | Graded (9.8): $90.00 - $120.00
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar condition have recently sold for $8 to $14 on eBay. CGC 9.8 copies fluctuate between $100 and $130 depending on shipping and auction timing.
Grading Recommendation
Not currently recommended for professional grading in this condition. The visible spine ticks and corner wear likely cap the grade at 8.0 to 8.5. The cost of CGC grading plus shipping would exceed the market value of the graded book at this tier. Grading is only financially viable for this modern key in 9.8 condition.
Notable Features
First appearance of the House of M reality. Features a massive cast including Wolverine, Spider-Man, and Magneto. Key modern crossover event known for the subsequent 'No More Mutants' decimation of the mutant population. Includes Direct Edition UPC.
