Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5)
Condition Details
Visible moderate spine stress with color-breaking ticks along the spine. Slight blunting on the bottom right and top right corners. Significant yellowing/tanning along the top edge of the cover consistent with age and paper quality. Surface wear visible in the white areas.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5.00 - $10.00; Graded (9.8): $40.00 - $60.00
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar condition typically sell for $3-$8 on eBay. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold in the $50 range.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The current market value for high grades does not offset grading fees (CGC/CBCS) and shipping. The visible spine ticks and edge tanning would likely prevent a high enough grade (9.6+) to make it profitable.
Notable Features
First appearance of Deadzone (John DeWait). Features a prominent Direct Edition logo (Moon icon) instead of a barcode. Part of the 1990s Moon Knight run known for its darker, grittier tone.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Marvel Comics production from 1993. Features standard newsprint interior pages and a semi-gloss cover. Staple placement and 'Direct Edition' moon graphic are consistent with legitimate printings of this era.
