Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress marks visible through the polybag (if present) or on the cover surface. Lower right corner shows very slight blunting. Overall gloss appears high with decent color retention.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $15 | Graded (9.8): $60 - $80
Recent Sales
Raw copies typically sell for five to ten dollars on secondary markets. 9.8 graded copies have seen recent sales in the seventy dollar range.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for grading unless sentimental. The cost of professional grading (CGC/CBCS) would likely exceed the current market value of a raw copy in this condition.
Notable Features
First issue of the influential Volume 4 series. Features the 'Five Years Later' storyline start. Notable for Keith Giffen's distinct 9-panel grid layout and experimental art style.
Authentication Notes
Internal indications of authenticity include the standard DC 'bullet' logo of the era and the correct price point ($1.50 US). Paper stock appears consistent with late-80s DC copper age/modern transition Baxter paper.
