Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Visible pencil writing ('1956') on the center of the front cover. Noticeable corner blunting and rounding on the bottom left and right. Significant spine stress marks and creasing. The polybag makes surface wear hard to discern, but there appears to be general edge wear and possible tanning of the cover paper.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5 - $10; Graded (4.0): $25 - $35
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in Mid-Grade (6.0) sell for approximately $12-15. Copies in lower grades with writing on the cover typically sell for under $10.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of the grading service exceeds the current market value of the book in this condition, especially with ink/pencil marks on the cover which significantly lowers the grade.
Notable Features
75-cent price variant does not apply here (standard 25-cent issue). Adaptation of the story by L. Sprague de Camp and Lin Carter. Features a classic Gil Kane cover.
Authentication Notes
The book displays correct period-accurate 'Marvel Comics Group' header, 25-cent price point, and appropriate aging for mid-70s newsprint. No signs of restoration visible through the bag.
