Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good/Fine (CGC 5.0)
Condition Details
Visible moderate spine stress and color-breaking ticks along the entire spine. Significant corner blunting and minor rounding on the bottom right. Notable creasing on the top right corner. Scuffing/rubbing on the solid black areas of the upper cover. UPC corner shows minor staining or soiling.
Estimated Market Value
Raw (Ungraded): $5 - $10; Graded (9.0+): $45 - $60
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar mid-grade condition have recently sold for $4 to $8 on eBay. Graded 9.4/9.6 copies typically fetch $50-$80.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of shipping and grading fees would likely exceed the final market value of a mid-grade copy. This issue is a standard 'reader' copy rather than a high-value key.
Notable Features
Features the 'Still Only 35¢' price banner, which was part of Marvel's transition to higher prices in the late 70s. This is a Direct Edition as indicated by the simple bar code box on the bottom left (unstruck).
Authentication Notes
Appears authentic. The paper aging/tanning is consistent with the late 70s Marvel newsprint stock. Ink saturation on the reds and yellows is typical for this era's printing process.
