Condition & Value

Condition Grade

Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)

Condition Details

Visible minor spine stress near the center left. Lower right corner shows slight blunting. There is a small vertical indentation or crease near the top edge above the 'T' in MUTANT. Surface gloss remains high but shows light handling wear.

Estimated Market Value

Raw: $10 - $20; Graded (9.0): $40 - $55; Potential Graded (9.8): $120+

Recent Sales

Recent eBay sales for raw copies of Cover A in similar mid-to-high grade range from $12 to $25. CGC 9.8 copies consistently sell for over $100 due to high supply but steady demand.

Grading Recommendation

Not recommended for professional grading unless a 9.8 is guaranteed. This is one of the highest-selling comics of all time (millions of copies), making anything below a 9.8 common and less valuable than the cost of grading fees. A professional press could improve the grade slightly.

Notable Features

Magneto cover (Variant A). First appearance of the Acolytes (Fabian Cortez, Anne-Marie Cortez, etc.). Captain America 50th Anniversary Logo in corner box. Direct Edition (indicated by the logo in place of a barcode).

Authentication Notes

Authentic 1991 edition. Features standard matte interior paper stock and glossy cover of the era. Printing is sharp with correct color registration for a mass-produced Marvel title from the early 90s.
