Comic Description
A celebratory 80-page one-shot written and illustrated by the character's co-creator, Jack Kirby. Mister Buda takes Captain America on a journey through various eras of American history (The Revolutionary War, the Old West, WWI, etc.) to help him understand the American spirit during the nation's bicentennial.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Visible spine stress and color-breaking creases along the entire spine. Significant corner blunting and wear on the bottom left corner. Notable surface scuffing and horizontal creasing on the right mid-edge. Minor edge wear and overall handling wear indicative of the larger Treasury format.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $25 - $45; Graded: $100 - $150 (depending on census data for mid-grades).
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar VG/Fine condition have recently sold between $30 and $55. Higher grade NM copies (9.0+) command significant premiums over $200 due to the difficulty of preserving this oversized format.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading in this condition. The cost of 'large format' grading services and shipping for Treasury-sized books would likely exceed the value increase for a 4.0/5.0 grade. Keep it in a high-quality Mylar sleeve for preservation.
Notable Features
Treasury Edition (Oversized 10x13 format). All-new stories and art by Jack Kirby. Prominent '1976 ALL-NEW!' corner banner. First appearance of Mister Buda.
Authentication Notes
Authentic 1970s Marvel Treasury printing. Paper stock is standard newsprint interior with a heavier cardstock cover. Color registration on the Kirby artwork is consistent with mid-70s production standards.
