Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Fine (CGC 6.0)
Condition Details
Visible color-breaking spine ticks, significant corner blunting at bottom right, potential subscription crease or vertical line on the right side, minor edge wear, and yellowish tanning appearing at the bottom corner edges. The cover retains good gloss but shows shelf wear.
Estimated Market Value
Raw $20 - $35; CGC 6.0 $50 - $70; CGC 9.8 can reach $400+
Recent Sales
Raw copies in mid-grade typically sell for $25 on eBay. Graded 9.0+ copies see a significant price jump, but lower grades remain affordable.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading in this condition. The cost of grading (approx $30-40) plus shipping would likely exceed the final market value of a 6.0 copy. Only worth grading if it were an 8.5 or higher.
Notable Features
First appearance of Jaxxon. First appearance of the Cloud-Riders. Early expanded universe story released shortly after the original film. Features a blank UPC box indicative of early Direct Market distribution.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Marvel 35-cent price point. The blank UPC box is consistent with Marvel's late 70s Direct Market distribution to comic shops. Ink saturation and paper aging are consistent with the 1978 production era.
