Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (7.5 - 8.0)
Condition Details
Visible spine stress marks and ticks along the left edge. Minor corner blunting on the bottom left. The cover shows some surface reflection suggesting possible minor scuffing or light creasing underneath the polybag. Gloss appears largely intact but the newsstand barcode area shows slight yellowing consistent with age.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $30 - $50; Graded (CGC 8.0): $80 - $110; Graded (CGC 9.8): $450+
Recent Sales
Raw mid-grade copies sell consistently between $35 and $55. 9.8 graded copies have seen a price spike due to the popularity of the 'Born Again' storyline, often exceeding $400.
Grading Recommendation
Likely not worth professional grading unless it is a candidate for a 9.6 or 9.8. This copy appears to be in the 7.5-8.5 range due to spine ticks. A professional press could improve the grade by removing non-color-breaking dimples, but the spine ticks remain the limiting factor.
Notable Features
Part of the iconic Frank Miller/David Mazzucchelli 'Born Again' run, widely considered one of the greatest Daredevil stories ever told. This is the Newsstand Edition, identified by the barcode in the bottom left corner. Features the Marvel 25th Anniversary logo.
Authentication Notes
The comic exhibits standard mid-80s newsprint paper quality and high-density ink consistent with original Marvel printings of this era. Staple placement and cover alignment with the 75 cent price point are correct for an authentic 1986 first print.
