Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Significant spine wear with color-breaking stress lines, rounded and blunted corners (especially top left and bottom right), visible soiling/toning on the white border of the front cover, minor edge chipping, and a small tear on the right edge. Paper appears to have yellowing consistent with age.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 4.0): $45 - $60
Recent Sales
Copies in 4.0-5.0 range have recently sold for approximately $18 - $30 raw. High-grade 9.0+ copies can exceed $150.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The costs of grading/shipping would likely exceed the market value of a 4.0 grade copy. Better suited as a reader copy or for a low-grade set filler.
Notable Features
Early appearance of Nighthawk (only his third appearance after debut in Avengers #69-70). Marie Severin cover art. Classic Gene Colan interior art. Silver/Bronze age crossover pricing (15 cents).
Authentication Notes
The item looks to be an authentic 1970 original. The ink absorption on the newsprint, the specific 15-cent price point, and the natural oxidation/yellowing of the paper are consistent with Marvel's production standards of that era.
