Batman: Venom is a storyline where Batman fails to save a young girl's life because he is not strong enough. Consumed by grief and a desire for greater power, he turns to a new experimental steroid drug known as 'Venom' (the same chemical that eventually empowers Bane). He quickly becomes addicted, altering his personality and judgment until Alfred and Commissioner Gordon intervene.
