Comic Description
The debut issue of the Absolute Universe version of Batman. In this reimagining, Bruce Wayne is a working-class engineer without the Wayne manor or family fortune. He utilizes a massive, brutalist combat style and a modular 'Bat-Axe' symbol. The story introduces a more grounded but physically imposing version of the Dark Knight as he protects a gritty, modern Gotham.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Near Mint (9.4)
Condition Details
Visible within the polybag, the comic appears sharp with minimal wear. However, there is a retail barcode sticker placed directly on the polybag which obscures a portion of the bottom cover art. The edges appear crisp and the spine appears tight with no major stress marks visible from this angle.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10 - $15 | Graded (CGC 9.8): $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent sales for the 3rd printing variant of Absolute Batman #1 range from $8 (MSRP/Below) to $15 for raw copies. As a newer release with high print volume across multiple printings, the market for the 3rd print is currently stable at retail levels.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading unless for personal collection preference. As a third printing, it lacks the 'First Print' investment premium, and the current market value for a CGC 9.8 barely covers the cost of grading, shipping, and handling fees.
Notable Features
First printing of Absolute Batman #1; Debut of the 'Absolute Universe' Batman; Nick Dragotta art style; Third printing identification is noted on the retailer tag.
Authentication Notes
The item features the modern DC 'Circular' logo in the top right. Colors are deep and consistent with official high-quality modern digital printing. The paper stock appears to be the standard modern glossy finish.
