Launch of the Absolute Universe (Earth-Alpha). This issue introduces a new, reimagined Kal-El who grew up without the comfort of the Kents or the Fortress of Solitude. This version of Superman is a working-class hero with a more aggressive edge and a different power set than his Prime-Earth counterpart.
