Estimated Market Value
$10.00 - $25.00 raw; $40.00 - $60.00 graded (though cost of grading exceeds value)
Recent Sales
Recent sales for low-grade copies range from $5 to $15. Mid-grade copies (FN 6.0) sell for approximately $45. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have reached over $400.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of CGC/CBCS fees plus shipping would exceed the current market value of the comic in this condition. It is a classic Neal Adams cover, but better specimens are readily available for collectors.
Notable Features
Features an iconic 'alienated hero' cover by legendary artist Neal Adams. Note the 15-cent price point which was standard for the era. The issue includes the first appearance of the character Elvok. No UPC present (pre-dates barcodes).
Authentication Notes
The comic appears authentic to the 1970 publication period. The paper oxidation (tanning) visible on the edges and spine is consistent with the newsprint used by DC in the Bronze Age. Staple placement and cover gloss appear consistent with original manufacturing.
