Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good/Fine (CGC 5.0)
Condition Details
Moderate spine stress and horizontal creasing along the left edge. Minor corner blunting, specifically the top left. Visible scuffing and light surface wear on the cover gloss. Some edge wear consistent with age and the oversized format. Possible light tanning of pages based on age, though not fully visible from photo.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $80 - $125; Graded (CGC 5.0): $150 - $200
Recent Sales
Recent sales for mid-grade raw copies range from $75 to $110. CGC 9.0+ copies frequently command over $500.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for grading unless sentimental or for preservation. The visible spine stress and creases likely cap the grade at 5.0-6.0, where the cost of grading and shipping for a treasury-sized book might outweigh the market value increase.
Notable Features
Oversized Treasury Edition format. The cover features a 'hidden' crowd containing numerous celebrities and DC staff of the era including Jimmy Carter, the Beatles, and Frank Sinatra. Iconic Neal Adams artwork. First and only meeting between these two legends in this specific era.
Authentication Notes
The $2.50 price point and 'C-56' numbering indicate an original 1978 printing rather than the later 2010 hardcover reprints. Paper stock appears consistent with late 70s DC treasury editions (matte-finish newsprint interiors). No signs of counterfeit identified.
