Comic Description
This series was created to look like a lost 1940s newspaper comic strip. The story is a period piece following Steve Rogers (Captain America) and Bucky Barnes during World War II as they face off against Nazi threats. It is a three-issue limited series designed with an vintage aesthetic, though it was written and illustrated in 2010.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
Minor spine stress visible along the left edge. Slight blunting on the bottom right corner. Surface appears clean with high gloss, though the image is a low-resolution photograph of a screen which may obscure micro-defects.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $3 - $8 | Graded (9.8): $40 - $60
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies have sold for approximately $5. High-grade slabbed copies show very low trade volume as it is not a major key issue.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The cost of grading (CGC/CBCS fees plus shipping) significantly exceeds the current market value of the book. It is a modern era book with high supply and low demand in the secondary market.
Notable Features
Features a unique layout designed to mimic newspaper serials of the Golden Age. Includes a barcode (Direct Edition) on the bottom right. Notable for Karl Kesel's work attempting to replicate the style of early Marvel (Timely) creators.
Authentication Notes
The book appears authentic with correct contemporary Marvel trade dress, UPC placement, and logo font. No indications of counterfeit; this is not a high-value target for reproduction.
