Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0)
Condition Details
Minor spine stress visible along the left edge. Corners appear relatively sharp but show slight blunting on the bottom right. Surface gloss is high, and color vibrancy remains strong. No significant creasing or tears are visible from the distance of the photograph.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $10 - $25; Graded (9.0-9.4): $40 - $60; Graded (9.8): $150 - $200
Recent Sales
Raw copies in similar condition have recently sold between $12 and $22 on platforms like eBay. Graded 9.8 copies command a significant premium due to the scarcity of high-grade 1990s Valiant books.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading unless it is a guaranteed 9.8. The value for mid-to-high grades (9.0-9.4) barely covers the cost of grading fees and shipping. A pressing service might improve the spine stress to push it toward a 9.4-9.6.
Notable Features
Early appearance of the Harbinger team. Features the early work of David Lapham who became a superstar in the industry. Early 90s Valiant issues are known for low initial print runs compared to Marvel/DC of the same era.
Authentication Notes
All indicators suggest authenticity. The $2.50 price point and logo placement are consistent with early Valiant production. The paper stock and ink saturation appear typical for the 1992 printing era.
