Comic Description
A cross-company collaboration where Batman and Spawn must team up to stop the resurrection of a demon named Croatoan in Gotham City. The story bridge the gritty Noir elements of Batman with the supernatural/Hell-based lore of Spawn. This is notably the 'DC' version of the team-up, released shortly after the Image Comics version (Spawn/Batman) written by Frank Miller.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (CGC 7.5) to Very Fine (CGC 8.0)
Condition Details
Visible rounding and minor blunting on the top right corner. Slight color-breaking spine ticks possibly present near the lower mid-section. General surface shelf wear consistent with age, and possible mild edge wear on the bottom left. The item is currently bagged and boarded, which obscures finer detail but suggests it has been preserved.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $20.00 - $35.00 | Graded (9.8): $120.00 - $160.00
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in similar condition have sold between $25 and $40 on eBay. High-grade CGC 9.8 copies have recently sold in the range of $135 - $150.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading unless it is a guaranteed 9.8. Based on the visible corner blunting and edge wear, it is likely to fall in the 7.5 to 8.5 range. The cost of CGC/CBCS grading fees plus shipping would likely exceed the actual market value of the book in this specific mid-to-high grade condition.
Notable Features
First crossover appearance between Spawn and Batman published by DC; features 'War Devil' storyline; prestige format (higher paper quality and square bound spine).
Authentication Notes
The cover features the standard DC Bullet logo of the era. The print density of the Klaus Janson art looks consistent with 1994 prestige format standards. No signs of reproduction or counterfeiting are visible; staples are not visible because it is a prestige format square-bound book.
