Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Good/Very Good (CGC 3.0)
Condition Details
Moderate to heavy spine wear with numerous color-breaking stress lines and small splits. Notable blunting and rounding at all four corners. Visible crease at the upper left corner and lower right edge. Possible liquid staining or heavy foxing along the top edge near the masthead. Significant edge wear/chipping along the bottom and spine. Color rub on the purple background.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $60 - $85 | Graded (3.0): $110 - $140
Recent Sales
Recent sales for mid-low grade (2.5-4.0) range from $50 to $120. High-grade copies (9.0+) can exceed $1,000 due to key silver age appearances.
Grading Recommendation
Not highly recommended in this specific condition unless for preservation purposes. The cost of grading, shipping, and handling would consume most of the potential value increase at a 3.0/3.5 level. A professional press might improve it slightly, but the color-breaking spine stress is permanent.
Notable Features
First Silver Age appearance of Solomon Grundy and the Earth-2 Hourman. Key issue in the revival of Justice Society of America characters within the DC Multiverse. Features Murphy Anderson art, which is highly collectible for Silver Age DC fans.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Silver Age DC copy. Displays characteristic age-appropriate paper oxidation (off-white pages), period-correct 12-cent cover price, and standard two-staple binding typical of 1965 National Periodical Publications.
