Ms. Marvel (Carol Danvers) travels to the hidden subterranean world of the lizard-people. The story features appearances by the Lizard-Men of Subterranea and includes the ongoing development of Carol's dual identity struggles. This issue is part of the final run of her original solo 1970s series.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Good (CGC 4.0)
Condition Details
Significant spine roll and heavy spine stress with multiple color-breaking creases. Visible tanning and edge wear on the right side. Corner blunting on all corners. Surface scuffing and minor soiling on the white borders. Centerfold likely attached but paper quality appears aged.
Estimated Market Value
$15.00 - $35.00 (Raw)
Recent Sales
Similar mid-grade UK variants often sell for 20-30% less than US cents copies, averaging $20 in VG condition. Graded 9.8 copies have reached over $400 for cents editions, but sub-5.0 UK variants rarely sell for a premium.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for professional grading. The costs of CGC/CBCS shipping and fees likely exceed the final market value of a 4.0 UK Price Variant. Better kept in a bag and board as a reader copy or filler.
Notable Features
12p UK Price Variant (intended for British distribution), Bronze Age Marvel, UPC barcode present, Dave Cockrum action cover. This issue is desirable to completionist collectors of the first Ms. Marvel volume.
Authentication Notes
Authentic Bronze Age newsprint stock. The 12p price stamp and 'Marvel All-Colour Comics' banner across the top are standard for UK imports from this era. Ink saturation and registration are consistent with 1970s Marvel printing.
