Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine- (7.5)
Condition Details
Visible minor spine stress with color-breaking ticks on the left edge. Slight blunting on the top-right and bottom-right corners. Faint yellowing around the edges of the cover indicate potential age-related tanning. Minor shelf wear on the back cover and along the spine.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $15 - $25; Graded (CGC 7.5): $50 - $70
Recent Sales
Recent raw copies in similar mid-to-high grade condition have sold between $18 and $22 on eBay. 9.8 graded copies sell for significantly more, often exceeding $250.
Grading Recommendation
Not recommended for grading unless it is a sentimental PC (Personal Collection) item. The cost of grading plus shipping would likely exceed the market value of the book at a 7.5 grade. A 'press and clean' might improve it to an 8.0, but still not enough for a major value jump.
Notable Features
Features the Jack of Hearts. This is a classic Newsstand edition recognizable by the Barcode (UPC) in the bottom left corner, which was becoming standard at the time.
Authentication Notes
The comic exhibits correct 1970s Marvel printing characteristics: newsprint interior paper, staple placement in line with the period, and the distinct 30-cent price point. No signs of reproduction or counterfeiting visible.
