First issue of the X-Force series, following the transition from New Mutants. Featuring Cable, Shatterstar, Feral, Warpath, Cannonball, Boom-Boom, and Domino (Copycat). Issues were originally sold polybagged with one of five different trading cards.
Condition & Value
Condition Grade
Very Fine/Near Mint (CGC 9.0) (Estimated)
Condition Details
The comic is shown in its original polybag. The bag shows significant wrinkling and 'shrink' stress, which often leaves indentation marks on the cover over time. Visible spine stress near the bottom staple and minor corner blunting. Potential for vertical non-color breaking creases due to the trading card inside.
Estimated Market Value
Raw: $5-$15; Graded (9.8): $60-$80.
Recent Sales
Raw copies in polybags consistently sell for roughly $10. Recent CGC 9.8 sales average $75, while 9.6 copies often struggle to exceed $35.
Grading Recommendation
Generally not recommended unless the copy is perfect (CGC 9.8 candidate). Grading costs often exceed the value of the book for any grade lower than 9.8 due to extreme overproduction in the 1990s.
Notable Features
Includes free Marvel trading card (Cable version). 1st appearance of GW Bridge. Cameo appearance of Deadpool. Iconic 90s cover art by Rob Liefeld.
Authentication Notes
Appears authentic. Original factory polybag with red and white promotional text is present. Gloss and registration on the cover visible through the bag appear consistent with 1991 Marvel production standards.
